Women In Construction

Women in Connolly Scaffolding Ltd - Beth

Following on from the brilliant article showcasing women in scaffolding by NASC - National Access and Scaffolding Confederation today, here is Beth's experience of working in the industry for us.

How did you get into the scaffolding industry?

To be honest it’s never a job I thought I would have, I kind of fell into it when I needed a job. Someone I knew at the company put me in touch with Connolly Scaffolding and they were so helpful and nice when I started. Now that I’m working here I couldn’t be happier, everyone makes me feel welcome and I look forward to going into work every day!

What do you like about working in the industry?

I love that you can work in different places all the time, it can literally take you anywhere. I also love the fact that it’s a hands on job and you can really get stuck in, it’s like being at the gym you can always push yourself even further every day.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow in your footsteps?

My advice for anyone wanting to get into the industry would be to just take the leap and do it. At first I was worried about working in scaffolding but I was soon made to feel part of the team and I wouldn’t change it for anything now.

Connolly Scaffolding are extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract to provide the scaffolding solution to facilitate maintenance works on the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. The iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge is a Grade I listed building which was originally designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel who passed away without seeing the completion of the bridge. A revision was made to Brunel’s original design by William Henry Barlow and Sir John Hawkshaw with a wider, higher and sturdier deck than Brunel intended, with triple chains instead of double. Construction of the bridge was completed in 1864. The securing of this prestigious project is a testament to how Connolly Scaffolding are trusted by our clients to deliver complex scaffolding solutions on large scale projects. Keep an eye out for the technical write up for the project and of course drone videos and images as the project progresses.

connolly scaffolding are proud to announce that we have secured the contract to provide the full access package for our client russell wbho for this amazing project. Located on Market Street, the Rylands Building is a Grade ii listed building designed by the eminent Manchester architects, Fairhurst’s (Harry S. & P. G. Fairhurst), in an Art Deco style. It is clad in Portland stone and features a decorative corner tower and eclectic 'zig zag' window lintels. The work was completed in 1932. Most people will remember the building as the iconic Debenhams store which closed its doors in 2021. Jeffery Bell Architects are responsible for the re-imagining of the building which will be sensitively restored to its elegant past whilst providing state of the art office, retail, and leisure spaces, as well as a four storey roof-top extension. We’ll post further updates as the project progresses

connolly scaffolding are now in the final stages of the dismantle at The Printworks in City Centre Manchester. The scale of the works really needs to be seen in person to appreciate what has been delivered. Europe's largest LED ceiling has been installed at The Printworks which covers 900msq. There are still some works to complete, facades etc but we're looking forward to the grand re opening and switch on of the LED ceiling which will provide unique and immersive experiences.
